The B. A. P. S. Swaminarayan Research Institute organized a workshop called “Speak with Impact” at the Delhi Akshardham Temple on Sunday, July 16, 2023. The event witnessed the active participation of students from diverse higher education institutions and esteemed guests from Delhi. The attendees, ranging from ages 15 to 70, engaged with enthusiasm and delight throughout the workshop, gaining valuable inspiration from the event.
Inspired by HH Mahant Swami Maharaj, the event was meticulously organized under the guidance of Mahamahopadhyay Bhadreshdas Swami, the President of B.A.P.S. Swaminarayan Research Institute in New Delhi. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed personalities including Senior Sadhu of the BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, Sarvanivasdas Swami, Director of Research Institute, Dr. Jyotindra Dave, and Chief Public Relations Officer of the BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, Dr. MM Pandey. The event commenced with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp accompanied by the recitation of sacred mantras.
Dr. Dave took the stage thereafter to deliver the keynote speech, during which he elaborated on the primary objectives of the program.
The first session was initiated by Sameer Prajapati, who commenced with a captivating video presentation highlighting some of the most iconic speeches delivered by the world’s renowned orators. The audience was enraptured by the words of these exceptional speakers, leaving an indelible impression. The participants shared how they were deeply moved by the compelling narratives and profound thoughts expressed in these speeches.
Following that, Gyananandas Swami delivered a presentation on the “Universal Principles of an Effective Speech.” He eloquently described the primary components of speech and the benefits of effective discourse, stating that a successful speech functions as a bridge between thought and communication. He also highlighting that a compelling speech has the potential to evoke emotions, stimulate intellect, and incite action.
During the second session, Sunita Sharma, the Director of the Department of Agriculture, Government of India, discussed “Speech Preparation Style.” She underscored the importance of considering the context before, during, and after the speech-writing process. Additionally, Dr. Meera enriched the participants’ knowledge with a presentation on the significance of proper body language and gestures when delivering a speech. These sessions collectively provided valuable insights into the multifaceted aspects of effective communication.
Reflecting on Swami Vivekananda’s speech, Mr. Sanjay Upadhyay, the National President of the Working Journalist of India (BMS), contributed his perspective on the elements that contribute to a speech’s success.
In the culminating phase of the program, every participant was assigned a specific topic to prepare and present a speech on. During this final segment, participants were tasked with crafting impromptu speeches and confidently delivering them from the stage. he diverse range of topics included “Ancient Indian Civilization,” “The Contribution of Sports to Human Life,” “Yoga and Health,” among others. This hands-on experience allowed participants to showcase their speaking abilities and share their insights on various subjects.
Dr. Jyotindra Dave, director of the Swaminarayan Delhi Akshardham Research Institute, commended all participants and program affiliates for their significant contributions to the success of this workshop. The event concluded at 4:00 p.m., marking the culmination of a fruitful and enriching event.
